Objective: Posttraumatic hydrocephalus is a common complication of craniocerebral trauma, and leads to prolong hospitalization time, even can be fatal in severe. To study the clinical effect on posttraumatic hydrocephalus between lumboperitoneal shunt and ventriculoperitoneal shunt,in order to improve the clinical curative effect of the disease and advice more appropriate operation method for clinical treatment.Method: 41 posttraumatic hydrocephalus patients were selected from 2010.6 to 2015.6 in Second Hospital of Hebei Medcial University.19 of these patient were performed lumboperitoneal shunt, and 22 patients were performed ventriculoperitoneal shunt. To compare the operation time, postoperative complicates,GOS and KPS score six months post-operation.Results: The mean operation time of lumboperitoneal shunt is shorter than ventriculoperitoneal shunt(lumboperitoneal shunt is 54.2±6.0 minutes, ventriculoperitoneal shunt is 86.9±12.9 minutes). The incidence of postoperative complications rates of lumboperitoneal shunt is 10.5%,lower than ventriculoperitoneal shunt which is 22.7%,and the difference is statistically significant.Lumboperitoneal shunt's score of GOS and KPS is higher than ventriculoperitoneal shunt, but no statistical significance. Conclusion: Lumboperitoneal shunt is more efficacy in the treatment of posttraumatic hydrocephalus in operation time, postoperative complications, and equal recovery assess compare to ventriculoperitoneal shunt. Our study indicates that Lumboperitoneal shunt in the treatment of posttraumatic hydrocephalus displays a distinct advantage.
