Objective: Use cervical vertebra bone age to assess the development situation of the patients with unilateral complete cleft lip and palate(UCLP),in order to understand the developmental characteristics of the patients with Cleft Lip and Palate(CLP),and provide the theory basis for appropriate orthodontic treatment time of CLP patients.MethodsSelect the following UCLP patients of different ages as experimental group,at the same time to match the UCLP patients' age, gender of none cleft lip and palate(Non-Cleft)patients in the control group.8 to 11.9 years old male group: UCLP and Non-cleft patients as two groups, each group has 17 patients;8 to 11.9 years old female group: UCLP and Non-cleft patients as two groups, each group has 11 patients;12 to 15.9 years old male group: UCLP and Non-cleft patients as two groups, each group has 11 patients;12 to 15.9 years old female group: UCLP and Non-cleft patients as two groups, each group has 9 patients, referring to the measuring method of Mito, etc, use the lateral head positioning slice, choose the third and the fourth cervical vertebra(C3 and C4)to measurement the vertebral body.Reference suri's calculation method about the cervical vertebra bone age,to calculate the score of cervical vertebra bone age.Use SPSS18.0 statistical software for same age and gender UCLP patients with Non-cleft patients of cervical vertebra bone age an independent sample t test.Results:8 to 11.9 years old male group: The average cervical vertebra bone age of patients with UCLP was smaller than Non-cleft patients, and the difference was statistically significant(P ? 0.05).8 to 11.9 years old female group: The average cervical vertebra bone age of female patients with UCLP was smaller than Non-cleft patients, and the difference was statistically significant(P ? 0.05).12 to 15.9 years old male group: The average cervical vertebra bone age of patients with UCLP was smaller than Non-cleft patients, and the difference was statistically significant(P ? 0.05).12 to 15.9 years old female group: The average cervical vertebra bone age of patients withUCLP was smaller than Non-cleft patients, but the difference had no statistically significant(P ? 0.05).Conclusion:(1).In the process of growth and development, the development of UCLP patients' are delayed compared with the same age, gender of the Non-cleft patients.(2).As the UCLP patients' growth and development delays than Non-cleft patients,we can relax appropriately on UCLP patients with facial growth of orthopedic treatment.
