Objective:Using established the models of rats in the retention stage after the ortho dontic tooth movement to simulate the common conditions in clinical retention of period ontics patients after the orthodontic tooth movement.In the experimental animals,regional inject icariin,observe the expression and change of BMP-2 in the periodontium.Evaluate t he effect of icariin on inhibition of replase after orthodontic treatment.Study on the mec hanism of action of icariin in promoting periodontal tissue remodeling.There is very imp ortant clinical significance on study of the retention and replase after orthodontic tooth movement in the patients with periodontitis.Methods:Forty rats were divided into experimental group,A,B,Cand control group wi th 10 rats in each group.Injecting icariin with 10ug/ml,15ug/ml,20ug/ml,in to model rats in the experimental group in the day before removing the orthodontic tooth movement model.At the same time,injecting saline which are the same concentration and dose as e xperimental group into rats in control group.The experimental group and the control gro up were injected once every two days.Each group of rats was respectively executed on t he first weekend the forth week after appliances being removed.To observe the amount of the first maxillary molar displacement and the local injecting ligustrazine's influence on the remodeling of periodontium and the expression of BMP-2 by HE(hemaloxylin-e osin)staininy,and IHC(Immunohist ochemical)staining in maintenance phase after the stag e of orthodontic tooth movement.Results:Device removal after the first week,the recurrence of the control group was higher than that of the experimental group,and the recurrence distancewas0.130 mm,0.148 mm,0.107 mm.The number of bone cells in the experimental group was increased by 0.32,0.44,0.21,compared with the control group.The average density of BMP-2 was increas ed by 0.019,0.023 and 0.014,respectively,compared with the control group.Compared with the control group,the experimental group had significant difference.Device removal aft er the forth week,the recurrence of the control group was higher than that of the experi mental group,and the recurrence distance was 0.105 mm,0.151 mm,0.077 mm.The number o f bone cells in the experimental group was increased by 0.38,0.63,0.01,compared with th e control group.The average density of BMP-2 was increased by 0.030,0.045 and 0.023,r espectively,compared with the control group.Compared with the control group,the experi mental group had significant difference(P<0.05)?Conclusions:Intraperitondal injection of icariin can increase the expression of BMP-2 in periodontal tissue of rats during the retention stage after the experimental tooth mo vement,so as to promote the formation of bone cells.
