Objective: To investigate the associated factors of the refractures after percutaneous kyphoplasty(PKP).Methods: A retrospective analysis of 1281 patients who had undergone PKP between January 2005 and March 2016.1056 patients were followed up for a time of 1-84 months.Patients' age, gender, bone mineral density(values of T),the percentage of anterior vertebral height restoration, the correction of Cobb angle, the level of the first fracture and refracture, the time interval between the first fracture and the refracture, performed unilateral or bilateral, the bone cement volume injected, cement diffusion,anti-osteoporosis treatment were analyzed by Cox proportional hazards regression analysis. Results : Of all the patients,97(9.19%)had refractures with 88 female patients(90.73%)and 9 male patients(9.27%).The shortest time interval between the first fracture and the refracture is 1 month. The longest time interval between the first fracture and the refracture is 61 months. The average time interval was 21.9 months.Refractures within 3 months accounted for 10.31%(10/97)of all the refracture, with 1 year accounted for 25.77%(25/97),and 3 years accounted for 59.79%(58/97).Older age?bone mineral density(values of T)and whether the patients received the standard anti-osteoporosis treatment or not are statistically significant as the independent risk factors for the refractures.Other were not associated with the refractures(P>0.05).Conclusion: Older age(P=0.033,95%CI=1.003~1.068)? bone mineral density(P=0.046,95%CI=1.003~1.442)and whether the patients received the standard anti-osteoporosis treatment or not(P=0.022,95%CI=0.096~0.282)are the independent risk factor of the refracture after PKP,The mechanism of the refractures after PKP is mainly the natural development of osteoporosis,so the standard anti-osteoporosis treatment after PKP in the patients with osteoporosis is very significant to guard against refracture.
