Objective: To investigatroe and compare effects of different defoming agents in the treatment before gastroscopy..Methods: We conducted a randomized controlled trail recruiting 150 patients undergoing gastroscopy in First hospital Affiliated to Suzhou University and Suzhou Xiangcheng District people's Hospital.Patients were assigned 1:1:1 to received: Group A-drink lidocaine, group B-drink simethicone, group C-drink dimethyl silicone. The mucosal visibility score(MVS),accuracy of small lesion diagnosis, adverse effects and total time for gastroscopy were compared among three group. Results: Mean MVS was 7.58 in group A,5.87 in group B,5.82 in group C.Obviously,Mucosal visibility score in Group B was significantly better than for Group B and Group C(P?<?0.05).No difference for MV score at location of duodenal and antrum in three group.MV score at locations of gastric fundus, body and esophagus demonstrated significantly better mucosal visibility in Group C compared to Group A and Group B.The accuracy of small lesion diagnosis did not show any difference among three groups. But Group B and Group C able to detect more protrusion lesions compared to Group A,and Group C showed statistic differences when compared to Group A.Discussion: A pre-procedure drink containing simethicone significantly improves mucosal visibility during gastroscopy and benefit in identifying small lesions in a certain extent. Therefore, simethicone is worthy of applying in clinical.
