Objective: In this review,we comprehensively compared the therapeutic, diagnostic and prognostic roles of hepatocellular carcinoma biomarker miRNAs in tissues and blood. We studied these HCC biomarker miRNAs based on etiological factors, cancer hallmarks and ethnic groups. It will be helpful for us to understand of the pathogenesis of biomarker miRNAs in HCC.And it will offer more individualized decisions for HCC diagnosis and treatment? Methods: We searched HCC biomarker miRNAs in PubMed citations and screened the biomarker miRNAs in HCC that meet the requirements. These HCC biomarker miRNAs were divided into biomarker miRNAs in blood and tissues according to the sample sources. Then each category was subdivided into three categories based on the clinical significance, including diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic biomarkers. At the same time,we analyzed the pathogenesis of HCC biomarker mi RNAs according to ethnic groups and etiological factors. Finally,we used IPA(Ingenuity Pathway Analysis)program to map the targets of HCC biomarker miRNAs onto signaling pathways and analyzed the top 10 significantly enriched pathways. Conclusion: 1.For diagnostic miRNA biomarkers of HCC,the researchers tend to investigate the non-invasive biomarkers which are from the blood. And people are inclined to use relatively stable hepatogenic biomarkers as prognostic indicators.2.Most of the HCC biomarker miRNAs are associated with one to two clinic pathological features.3.Many prognostic miRNA biomarkers with low expression levels indicated longer overall survival of HCC patients.4.It offers individualized decisions for HCC diagnosis and treatment according to ethnic groups and etiological factors.
