ObjectiveSerum response factor(SRF)is a transcription factor that is widely found in living organisms and is involved in various cell activities. In recent years, many scholars at home and abroad have found that this factor is related to the development of various malignant tumors. But its presence in the colorectal cancer research data is less, based on the detection of SRF in colorectal cancer cells and normal expression of gland cancer, analysis of SRF expression in relation with clinical pathological characteristics of colorectal cancer patients, and the expression of SRF with 5-year survival rate of patients with colorectal cancer after relationship, whether SRF can be used as a biological marker to evaluate the prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer.MethodsSamples of carcinoma tissue and normal gland tissue were collected from patients with colorectal cancer from November l,2009 to August 31,2012 in Shenyang Medical College Affiliated Central Hospital. The expression of SRF in 196 cases of colorectal adenocarcinoma and 151 cases of paraneoplastic normal gland tissue was detected by immunohistochemical SP method and its relationship with clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis was analyzed.ResultsThe results of immunohistochemical staining showed that the expression of SRF in colorectal cancer tissue was significantly higher than that of normal gland tissue near cancer(p<0.01).The increased expression level of SRF in cancer tissues is closely related to postoperative TNM staging(P=0.018)in CRC patients, which is mainly related to lymph node metastasis(P=0.019),but not related to sex(P=0.892),age(P=0.222)and tumor location(P=0.140).Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the survival time of the patients with high expression group of SRF was significantly 6 higher than that of the low expression group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001).At the same time,Cox multivariate regression showed that SRF was an independent factor affecting the prognosis of the patients(P<0.001).ConclusionsThe expression level of SRF is closely related to lymph node metastasis of colorectal cancer, and SRF is an independent prognostic factor, which can be used as an indicator of prognosis.
