Objective: 1.To get to know the knowledge and attitudes of the oncology department nurses on palliative care;2.To know clearly about the factors which influence the knowledge and attitudes of the oncology department nurses for palliative care.3.To explore the countermeasures on improving the knowledge and attitudes of the oncology department nurses for palliative care.Methods: From March to October,2017,in six 3 A Grade Hospitals in Urumqi,Xinjiang,632 nurses in the department of oncology were investigated and a questionnaire was conducted.Contents of the questionnaire: 1.General Information Questionnaire 2.Chinese version of Palliative Care Quiz for Nursing(PCQN)3.Chinese version of attitudes questionnaire of palliative care 4.An in-depth interviews on the target population through qualitative research 5.A database was built by Epidata3.1 sofeware and the dates were analyzed by SPSS 17.0 Statistical methods.Results: 1.The scores of 632 palliative care knowledge questionnaires range from 0 to 17 points,an average of 9.39±3.87 points,the dimension scores:Philosophy and principles of palliative care is 1.62±1.05 points,pain and symptom control 6.96±2.06 points,psychosocial and spiritual support 0.81±0.76 points.2.The scores of 632 palliative care attitudes questionnaire range from 27 to 50 points,an average of 37.12±5.47 points.The dimension scores: the effectiveness of palliative care is 15.81±1.79 points,professional responsibilities and roles 12.25±2.37 points,the communication between nurses and patients 9.06±1.31 points.3.The factors affecting the scores of the nurses' palliative care knowledge questionnaire and the palliative care attitudes questionnaire were influenced by the nurses departments,ages,posts,titles,educational levels,years of work and education and training expeience for palliative care,hospitals.4.In this survey,87.3% oncology department nurses know of the word "palliative care",41.1% oncology department nurses know the related knowledge of "palliative care" through lectures,39.6% oncology department nurses have participated in "palliative care" related education and training.5.The concept of palliative care cognitive,the implementation of palliative care measures,the problems faced by promoting the idea of palliative care.Conclusion: Oncology department nurses lack the knowledge and deep understanding of the idea of palliative care;they can take an positive attitudes towards palliative care to strengthen the study and promote their theoretical knowledge on palliative care in different ways.
