With the acceleration of urbanization and the medical insurance reform, discussions on the medical problems of migrants are beneficial to promoting social stability and safeguard the social environment. The core issue of this study is the impact of different types of medical insurance on hospital medical services utilization in floating population, with special attention to its intergenerational differences and household registration factors. In this paper, the quantitative analysis of this study is based on the 2014 national dynamic population monitoring data, and the Probit model and ordinary least-squation method(OLS)are used to estimate the effect. The results show that:First,The migrant population’s medical insurance enrollment behavior enhances the utilization of hospital medical services.Compared with those who did not participate in any basic medical insurance, the insured behavior increased the floating population rate of hospitalization, reduced its out-of-pocket expenses and self-pay ratio.Second, there are structural differences of different medical insurance for different groups of medical services utilization. The three basic medical insurance:NRMI(New Rural cooperative Medical Insurance),MIUW(Medical Insurance of Urban Worker),MIUR(Medical Insurance of Urban Resident)have various effects on the local hospitalization rate in the direction and extent, which MIUW is proved with the most significant positive effect.Last but not the least, the internal factors in floating population such as intergeneration and household registration make a great difference,to a certain extent, affected the use of its hospital medical services. In addition, this paper discussed the shortcomings in research and puts forward several policy recommendations. The first is the reconstruction of medical insurance system, then optimizing resource allocation and standardizing the system of off-site medical utilization to eliminate the district difference. The last one is to promote medical services, make the medical system transparent and open, breaking the time and geographical constraints, finally promote their integration into the community.
