Backround:CD3 6,also known as fatty acid translocase protein,is a scavenger receptor protein which acts as important regulators of lipid metabolism and innate immunity. It mediates the uptake of fatty acids in different cell types.CD36 is low expressed in normal liver cells, however, its expression dramatically increased in hepatocytes from obesity rodent models.Recently, more focuses have shifted to the role of dysfunctional lipid metabolism in tumorogenesis.Ma,C.et.al had validated that dysregulation of lipid metabolism in NAFLD accelerated hepatocarcinogenesis, both in mouse and human samples.Overexpression of CD36 in cell lines with low metastatic potential significantly increased potential to form lymph metastasis while inhibition of CD36 hampers the metastasis. In addition, the presence of CD36+ metastasis-initiating cells correlates with a poor prognosis for numerous types of carcinomas, which proves the essential role for metastasis of CD36.A lot researched had been done to explore the role cellular pathways played in cancer metastasis, including Notch,Wnt and Hippo signaling.Kim et.al reported a molecular interplay between Notch signaling,Wnt signaling and Hippo signaling, and this feedback loop contributed to the initiation and progression of HCC.Recent work suggested that Notch activation correlated inversely with Wnt/?-catenin signaling in HCC patients.HCC exhibited high heterogeneity, thus different choices of treatment methods influence patient prognosis in totally different ways.Yet,our understanding of the molecular pathogenesis of tumor metastasis and recurrence remains rudimentary, effective prognosis indices or biomarkers are of great need.As the potential relationship between CD36 and Hippo,Notch and Wnt signaling, less research has been done to investigate its predictive value on tumor metastasis and recurrence. Methods:This study enrolled 67 HCC patients who underwent surgical resection at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University from 2013 to 2015.By tissue array,we analyzed CD36,PYAP/YAP,RBPsuh and ?-catenin expression in HCC tissue and peri tissue separately.Furthermore,we analyzed the influence of CD36 expression on HCC overall survival, metastasis and recurrence.Result:CD3 6,PYAP/YAP,RBPsuh and ?-catenin were low expressed in HCC tumor tissue.Low CD36 was associated with multiple tumor number, macrovascular invasion, portal vein invasion, poor T staging and poor TNM staging. The mean tumor-free survival time of the 67 HCC patients was 8 months, the mean overall survival time of the 67 HCC was 10 months.Low expression of CD36 in HCC tumor predicted poor survival of HCC patients.Low expression of CD36 in HCC tumor predicted early blood metastasis in HCC patients. Conclusion:This study demonstrated that CD36 expression was associated with poor overall survival of HCC patients and early blood metastasis.Furthermore, combined with the classic metastasis-related signaling pathway(Hippo signaling,Wnt signaling and Notch signaling),CD36 could predict early metastasis in HCC patients.
