Carbon/carbon composites material is a new type of material on the development field of materials.Carbon/carbon composites material has a series of advantages,such as good biocompatibility,chemical stability,elastic modulus closed to human body bone and so on,which would have a good application prospect.Based on the implanted medical materials and industrial technology,carbon fiber as reinforcing,researchers designed the medical carbon/carbon composite material,using for the production of artificial bone prosthesis.However,its own existence of particles on the surface,such as easy to fall off,and biological inert shortcomings restrict its development.So a series of researches about the carbon/carbon composites material surface modification need to be further developed.Therefore,this study centres on surface modification of carbon/carbon medical composite material.Vitro and vivo experiment illustrate the availability of paeonol and PDMS modification for the medical carbon/carbon composites material as the of artificial bone prosthesis.Firstly,surface characteristics and function of paeonol modified and bare PDMS were studied.The results showed that before and after the modification,surface water contact angle and the elements percentage composition were changed,and the molecular dynamics simulation proved that the main driving force of the interaction between PDMS surface and paeonol is van der Waals force.Adhesion and proliferation of data of bacteria((positive bacteria(P.aeruginosa PAO1)and negative(E.coli DH5 ?))and cells(NIH3T3 and HeLa)on the modified and bare PDMS surface under different conditions showed that the PDMS surface is unfavorable to the cells,and easy to the onset of bacterial adhesion and cancer cells,however,the modified PDMS had antibacterial properties,promoted the noncancer cell adhesion,proliferation and promoted cancer cell death.A functional biology material surface was made by surface modification in a simple way in our experiment.Based on the above research,PDMS modified by paeonol was introduced onto the carbon/carbon composites surface formed PDMS-C/C and Pae-PDMS-C/C composites materials.In vitro study,compared with C/C and PDMS-C/C composites,Pae-PDMS-C/C composites surface had better antibacterial property and was more favorable for cell adhesion and proliferation.In vivo experiment,the materials(C/C,PDMS-C/C,Pae-PDMS-C/C)were implanted into the animal model of joint damage,observing for 9 weeks.At 3,6,9 weeks after surgery the X-ray,Micro-CT 3D simulation,histological staining were observed.The results showed that PDMS modified on the C/C composites can reduce fall off of the particles and increase the compressive property.Paeonol further modified was more conducive to integration of the bone and materials,the formation of new bone.Vivo and in vitro experiments have proved that Pae-PDMS-C/C composite material has better biological characteristics and biocompatibility,which would increase its application in medical area.
