Objectives:To investigate the relationship between homocysteine levels and atherosclerosis in hypertensive patients at different altitudes. Methods: A total of 172 patients with essential hypertension who were hospitalized in Department of Cardiology,Qinghai Provincial People's Hospital from October 2016 to October 2017 were selected as study subjects. All patients were in accordance with the Guidelines for Prevention and Treatment of Hypertension in China(2010 Revision)Of the diagnostic criteria [1],of which more than 2,500 meters above sea leve-l hypertension Hcy increased in 102 patients with high-altitude H-type hypertension group,53 males and 49 females, mean age(59.7 ± 13.8)years of age;Fifty-nine patients with hypertensive nonhypertensive Hypertension with an elevation of Hcy of more than 2,500 m were 27 males and 32 females, with an average age of(58.1 ± 14.9)y-ears.Hypertension with an elevation of less than 2,500 meters had an increased Hcy sixty-six patients(44 males and 51 females)with mean age of(61.1 ± 13.9)years old and hypertensive patients less than 2,500 meters altitude were enrolled in this study.A-mong the 96 patients, there were 58 cases with elevated Hcy as low altitude non-H ty-pe Blood pressure group, including 33 males and 25 females, average age(60.5 ± 10.9)years.Each subject measured the carotid intima-media thickness in the color Doppler ultrasound examination room of People's Hospital of Qinghai Province and perfor-med left ventricular structural and functional indexes by performing cardiac echocard-iography.The blood samples of the subjects were collected to determine the Hcy value by the rate method.Qinghai Provincial People's Hospital Department of Laboratory Determination of biochemical and blood values of the indicators. The differences of Hcy,IMT,left ventricular structure and function index, biochemical index and blood index between the two groups were observed and the relationship between them was analyzed.Results:(1)the high altitude H-type hypertension patients age,IMT,Hcy,LAD,IVST,LVEDD,RBC,HGB,MCHC were higher than the H-type hypertension group, the blood oxygen saturation,triglycerides,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(hdl-c)HCT were less than H-type hypertension group;(2)Hcy,urea nitrogen and LVEDD were higher in Hcy,urea and LVEDD than non-h type hypertension in low-altitude area, while cholesterol and triglycerides were lower than those in non-h-type hypertion groups.(3)the RBC and HGB of H-type hypertension in different elevations were higher than those of low altitude H-type hypertension group.(4)the oxygen saturation of patients with non-h-type hypertension in different elevations was higher than that in the low-elevation non-h-type hypertension group. Conclusions: The target organ damage(heart remodeling)in H-type hypertensive patients with altitude above 2500 meters above sea level in Qinghai is more obvious than that in non-H hypertensive patients. There is no significant difference between different altitudes;H-type hypertension is found at altitudes less than 2500 meters above sea level.Carotid intima-media thickness was significantly higher in patients with non-H hypertensive patients, and there was no significant difference between different altitudes.
