The Japanese imperialist aggression, the growing ranks of the Red Army of workers and peasants as well as domestic warlords melee, the twentieth Century 30’s Kuomintang government faces a crisis of dictatorship.To get out of this situation as soon as possible beleaguered, the KMT government launched a series of political, economic and social measures.In this context, which lasted fifteen years of the New Life Movement came into being.The New Life Movement to traditional Confucian Ethics—— "Honesty and Honor" as the guiding ideology, to promote the life style of modern civilization as the core content.Starting from the change in people’s daily life habits, change the general mood of society, in order to achieve national rejuvenation and the construction of modern civilization country target. It is imbued with modern civilized society to the national consciousness, to a certain extent, it changed the habit of daily life and has achieved some positive social effects. Admittedly, the new life movement with a political color,some life goals and standards, make a serious departure from the actual life of the people, and also ended in failure at finally, But the good will Chinese social transformation which it expressed is worthy of recognition.This paper tries to from the point of view of national reconstruction, exploring the origin of the new life movement and its measures and effect, In order to have a clear understanding of target and ideal of the new life movement.
