After the start of the new culture movement, then with the appearance in the poem field of the vernacular poetry writing lighted a prairie fire. Initial flowering poets headed by Hu Shi broke the bondage of old-poetry, and also studied the form of new-poetry. They advocated the natural rhythm, but in the process of the pursuit of natural rhythm they went astray to ignore the form, which caused the early phase of new poetry gradually became rough clutter. In view of this, the Crescent poets such as Wen Yiduo proposed that new poetry should pay attention to the form of the poem, namely the prosody, which changed new poetry from chaos to order,, but the other side of this order is bound to poetry. Dai Wangshu conscientiously said "the rhythm of poetry lies in the cadence of poetic feeling", that is form according to the content, so it broke the superficial rules of the Crescentic prosody. At this point the essence of form of new poetry was finally grasped. From the beginning the movement of Chinese new poetry was related to western modern poetry. The earliest translation of foreign works opened people's eyes, the revolution of western poetry had an strong guidance on the Chinese new poetry, from Whitman, to England's neo-classical poetry, to the Symbolic poetry, all of them offered infinite inspiration and evolutional power to the new poetry poetics.
