This is a translation project report on Media, Crime, and Criminal Justice by Ray Surrette, of which Chapter 10 “Media, Crime, and Criminal Justice” is the source text. The main content of this chapter is to discuss impacts on traditional crimes and criminal justice system caused by new media, in which have some terminologies about media, crime and American criminal justice system. This report is divided into four parts: Part One is the introduction to translation project, including the project background, purpose, and report layout. Part Two is an introduction to the source text, including information of the author and the linguistic features of the ST. Part Three is mainly about preparation before translation and the translation principles used in this project. Part Four is about the translation difficulties and methods. During the process of the translation, there are great number of difficulties which lie in translating of terminology and the long sentences, especially the latter one. Therefore, this part is the top priority of this project. Part Five is a summary of this report, including experience, lessons and unsolved problems in the translation project.
