As a newly-emerging education technique, flipped classes can effectively improve class teaching effect and realize teaching objectives by focusing on personalized learning. At the same time, emerging of flipped class teaching mode poses new challenges to positions of teachers. Based on practical roles of teachers in flipped college English classes, this paper tries to apply research outcomes about roles of teachers in such mode into practical college English teaching through literature research, investigation study, and class observation, so as to improve college English teaching quality, define appropriate roles of college English teachers, and stimulate effective independent learning of students. During the research process, this paper identified differences between roles of teachers in such teaching mode and roles of teachers in various teaching objectives. The paper aims to help teachers of flipped classes improve their teaching quality and cultivate all-round competences of students. This paper offers reference to future researches about roles of teachers in college English teaching area.Based on discussions about roles of teachers in traditional college English teaching, this paper compared it with roles of teachers in flipped college English classes by elaborating on international and domestic current research situations, research objectives and research significances. In addition, the paper explored theoretical bases for researches about roles of teachers in flipped classes, namely constructivism and humanistic psychology. This laid a theoretical foundation for us to carry out researches about roles of teachers in flipped college English classes. During the process of comparison and practice, this paper concluded transformation approaches and behavior rules. On the basis, this paper clarified details and established an evaluation mechanism for roles of teachers through class observation and analysis method and summarization about roles of college English teachers in flipped classes. Through observation and analysis, it can be found teachers in flipped classes can make the teaching process more effective and vivid by giving full play to their guidance and assistance functions. This can greatly promote smooth implementation of flipped college English classes. At the same time, the class mode based on flipped class teaching is very popular among students. Such teaching mode defines roles and teachings and establishes dominant positions of students. By providing personalized learning experience and diversified learning ways, teachers can effectively improve independent learning ability of students.
