The Image Of Mother And The Causes In Hongying's Novels

Mother is an identity symbol of woman in social life and an eternal topic in literary works.Among Hong Ying's numerous literary images,mother image is the most representative one.As an overseas Chinese American woman writer,her mother image inevitably have some different cultural elements.This article takes the mother image of Hong Ying's works of different times as the research object.On the basis of close reading,she analyses the evolution of the mother image in the novel and its causes with cultural criticism and feminist criticism and investigates the meaning and value of mother image construction.This article is divided into four chapters.The first chapter combing the mother image of Hong Ying's novel longitudinally.Represented by “Daughter of the river ”“Peacock cries at the three Gorges ” “Good children of the flowers ”and written according to time sequence,the writer analyses and classifies the mother image combined with her works to highlight the feature of the mother image.The second chapter analyses the evolution process of the mother's image.There is an evolution of the mother image in different works of time.For example,the image of mother in Hong Ying's novels experienced from traditional to anti traditional change and from the distorted to finally get real reduction.There is also the evolution of the image of the mother in the same work.Mother's image has undergone a transformation from obedience to desire to return to the soul,on behalf of the“Daughter of the river” and “Peacock cries at the three Gorges ”.The third chapter deeply penetrate into the cause of the mother image evolution,mainly from the subtle influence of British culture on the author and the author's continuous enrichment of life experience and gradually to the identity recognition.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the meaning and value of Hong Ying's mother image construction in the long river of literature.
