The Artistic Features Of Yuzo Yamamoto's Play Writing

Yuzo Yamamoto was a famous playwright and novelist of modern Japan,who was born on July 27,1887 and died on January 11,1974.As a writer of New ideological trend school,Yuzo Yamamoto pioneered in theatre production and won applause.Meanwhile,Kan Kikuchi and he were termed as the two great writers of theatrical circles in Taisho period,which made indelible achievement in pioneering modern realism.Yuzo Yamamoto created about 30 plays during his lifetime,representative works are The Crown of Life,Infanticide.While the latter could be seen as one of the most popular and successful one-act play of Japanese play in 1920 s,the performing of the former gained epoch-making success occupying his important position as a playwright.This thesis aimed to interpret the contribution of Yuzo Yamamoto in Japanese modern theatric revolution and spread and influence of his work in China through analyzing these two plays of Yuzo Yamamoto,perspective the artistic features.This thesis is composed of introduction,body and conclusion.The introduction overviewed background and meaning,profile of leading research of thesis.The body is divided into three chapters.The first chapter introduces the historical background of play production,mainly analyzing how the historical background accelerated Yuzo Yamamoto to the drama revolution.The second chapter takes two masterworks as example--Infanticide and The Crown of Life in order to explain the Yuzo Yamamoto's play writing characteristics of these two works.This chapter makes up four parts explaining the Yuzo Yamamoto's play writing characteristics at the aspects of theme,genres,style and play scene.The third chapter explores Yuzo Yamamoto's great contribution on play reformation in Japanese modern times by analyzing the characteristics of his writing.This chapter includes two parts.The first part is the innovation explored at four aspects,which is the function on society development of Yuzo Yamamoto's works,the movement of play characters,the style of play language and play formation.And the second part talks about the influence of his works in China.And the last part is conclusion highly summarizing the essential content.
