In the long history,the Pacific island countries are at the edge of the world in politics,economy,civilization and in many other sides.There were no cities before western colonialists arriving at here.The cities of Pacific islands regions were built due to the business activities of western.But until the later half of 20 th century,the cities of Pacific Island countries have significant development.The urbanization of Pacific island countries has its unique characteristics: Government planning hit is less for the development of economy,the expansion of the economy and city development,the formation of new industries and expand,embodies the Pacific island countries develop spontaneity;Population is concentrated in a few big city,the distribution of the population is heterogeneous;The urbanization process is relatively slow,Although,it's faster significantly in recent years,the economic development of the city's speed is still behind the speed of population growth.Urbanization in this area was caused by external world and the driven of internal development pressure.Market and immigration were the important factors of Pacific Island countries to realize urbanization.The issues of urbanization appeared continually,because in the process of urbanization,there was function vacancies in strategy formulation,development plan and the other sections made by the governments of Pacific Island countries.In the face of these problems,the countries of Pacific Island have to formulate urban development plan,improve urban management and response the challenge of urbanization.
