Reading methods and skills are an important aspect in acquiring Chinese reading competency. Thailand's middle school students reading classes do not put enough emphasis on reading methods and skills. This has affected the students' advancement in their reading competency. This paper therefore seeks to find out how to utilize various methods and skills more efficiently in the class setting, thereby, improving Thailand's middle class level students' Chinese reading capacity.By delving into research and engaging teaching practice, this paper will seek to find out the most appropriate methods for Thailand's middle class students to improve their reading competency. The research will utilize questionnaires which will be administered to students of Bangsaphanwittaya middle school. This will not only be important to explain Chinese reading methods but will also offer a clear understanding of the methods implemented by teachers to improve Chinese reading in the classroom. Important to note also is that questionnaires will also be administered to teachers teaching Chinese in Thailand over the internet. The paper will aim to address following questions:firstly, the demands and role Of Chinese reading at middle class level. Secondly, methods and skills used to improve Chinese reading. Thirdly, current state of Chinese reading ability for Thailand's middle school students. Fourthly, explore the various Chinese reading methods and skills suitable for Thailand's middle school level students. Lastly, Practical implementation of the various methods and skills through teaching practice.
