Byzantine Literature Chronology Of Justinian Era

"Justinian Era" which can be seen as the first Renaissance in the history of Byzantine literature achieved fruitful art and literature achievements and formed the twin peaks together with "Comnene Era".Any Medieval Literary History which ignored the Byzantine literature is incomplete and any literature which lost "Justinian Era" is unbelievable.As the transition period from Ancient to the medieval times,the literature of "Justinian Era" presents some kind of style or feature like fossils.Among them,the ancient Greek,orthodox,Roman,Asia Minor and Egypt,Syria,Palestine,and so on are the fossil bones,branches and leaves,shells,in which produces mutual collision and fusion between them.Meanwhile,coagulation and precipitation occurred together.At last,they formed a vast "Mediterranean culture circle".In the ear of Justinian,the Mediterranean have already became the empire’s inner lake.The dissertation attempted to arrange the Byzantine literature chronology of Justinian era as research subject,committing to the collection,analysis,integration of the original data and adopting the chronicle style form to study writers and their works in the Justinian era.The chronology included 28 writers,more than 100 works.On the one hand,writer aspects related to the life story,the education process and the creative experience,On the other hand,work involved the main content,the brief evaluation,and the publication.All the works can be categorized as: history biography literature,devotional literature,praise literary,narrative literature,letters literature,romance literature,literature,travel literature and reportage literature.By classification and integration,we expect to have a grasp on the overall appearance of Justinian era’s literature.In this paper,it is not just as compilation of data.After the chronology,the characteristics of literature development and the root cause of complex background in this period were inserted.Some conclusions will be got from these data.Entries of every writers and their works are not exist in isolation,Furthermore,they are all cultural codes,linking together to reflect the key problem of "Justinian era",manuscripts is the main form of books during this period and manuscripts is also expensive luxury goods.Becoming a writer’s education cost is huge.Writers in this period are divided into two types of secular and religious.Most of secular writers who are born in a noble or wealthy family,without exception,received a good education.their creation purpose that is pursue for a steady political career and a good life under the sponsor.Therefore,writing historical biography works and praise work is usually the first selection of writers.The religious writers are mostly from the church deacon and the bishop or monks.Devotional literature,religioushymns,holy apostle biography and other types of literary works developed to a more high stage.Accordingly,these works brings infinite vitality for the literary development of "Justinian era".At the same time,the Latin gradually replaced by Greek and became the main language of literary creation.
