The State of Yu was a small vassal state in the Guandong Plain, which was ruled by Zhou and had nothing in historical records. However, due to its geographical location, it had great effects on the politics, economy and culture of the Western Zhou Dynasty. The discovery of the Yu State cemetery has filled the history blank. Furthermore, the research on the burial system of Yu State will gave the precious date for the study of the Western Zhou Dynasty.According to the ancient documents and archaeological materials, this paper researches on the burial system of the Yu state cemetery. By comparing with the burial systems of the Jin Dynasty JinHou?Ying State and Guo State, this paper summarizes the characteristics of the burial system of the Yu State and lay the first stone for further study the burial system of the Western Zhou Dynasty.First of all, on the cemetery system, the graveyard of Yu state was typical of a race and was buried in the same cemetery in early period of the West-Zhou dynasty. But in middle-Western Zhou, it changed into the family graveyard. From the Zhu Yuangou cemetery to Ru Jiazhuang cemetery, though the State of Yu survives a short time, it changed a lot. Maybe the development of the State of Yu was the key point. Although the burial shapes in Yu state was mainly characterized with erected pit tomb, it also had its own characteristics which can be related to the social customs and habits. Besides, using the concubines as victims was a major feature in Yu state which can not be found in other vassal states.Second, on the coffin system, the period of embryo was in the early western-zhou and the formation time was in the mid-western-zhou. “two inner coffins and an outer coffin” is the top-level in the Yu State cemetery, and it did not correspond with the record of“Dukes using five layers of coffins”. Investigate its reason; it can be linked to the time of those books.Third, on the tripod with two handles system, it was not standardized in the early Western-Zhou and was formed in the mid-Western-Zhou. The highest of tstandard is 8 ding 5 gui, and this did not match the record of "governors 7 ding 6 gui" in the book. Maybe its interpretation was the timing of the book was too late. Compared with other vassal states, the musical instruments system and the tripod lining system were born in Guanzhong Plian. It can also prove that the transmission of Zhou culture was from Zhou area to other area.Forth, on the jade system, the jade of Yu State can be divided into the dressing jade, the ritual jade and burial jade. They were centered on the first and two grade tombs, and had some significant gender differences.Last, as for the system of chariots and horses, it had no chariot pit but only the horse pit in the early Western-Zhou. From those pits, they had obvious affiliation with their masters, and the masters were the men.
