| 1960s, American picture book artist Leo Lionni (Leo Lionni,1910-1999) was the first person who brought the art of Collage into picture book creation, broke the traditional single creative mediums and performance techniques, consciously seeking to combine the performance of a variety of methods, the use of creative synthesis, a variety of materials combining different techniques of painting, collage or other manifestations rubbing the screen shape, texture and theme. With his creative unique style, Leo explored new ideas and opened future directions for the pictures books illustration.With each period of many picture books artists’trial and innovation, the collage in the creation of picture books was shown constant continuation and expansion and gradually moved toward a more "integrated" or mixed form of expression. As a result, great vitality had been to brought to the active creation of picture books. The mixed application of different materials in the same work, and this specific form or concept was called "Mixed Media".This paper mainly applies literature research and interdisciplinary research, and focuses on the illustrated article from the materials used in the creation of the methodology; using Leo Lionni’s picture book works a case study and based on his performance of innovative artistic skills. We are using five chapters to do further research on the "Mixed Media "application in the picture books Creation. Firstly, to introduce the concept of the ""Mixed Media "and its development process; Secondly, to specify the creative background of Leo Lionni’ collage picture books work;Thirdly, to analyze Leo Lionni’s collage works in the picture books; Fourthly, to describe and predict Leo Lionni’ collage picture books’ continuation and expansion; Last but not least, the author also tried to create his own experimental attempt, to get better understanding of the creative mixed material application in the picture books theoretically and practically. |
