Under the dual influence of African American Civil Rights Movement and white women's feminist movement,Mexican American women initiate the Chicana movement in the late 1960 s.This movement impels the birth of Chicana feminism.Chicana writers apply their unique perspective, style and theme to speak for Mexican American women who are confronted with racism,male-centralism,and class oppression. They spare no effort to constructing an identity for women of their ethnic group.Sandra Cisneros is the most distinguished one among those writers. Her novel The House on Mango Street wins her an array of reputation and it thereupon blooms into the focus of literary criticism at home and abroad. It narrates the living status of a massive number of Mexican American females, whose life is different before and after marriage. Therefore, thesis writer categorizes females into girls and women. This thesis analyzes their oppression respectively and has a research about their revolt from the perspective of feminism aiming at revealing the feminist themes behind Cisneros' simple language and demonstrating the features of Chicana feminism.Through the researches above, thesis writer agrees with the females of positive revolt and appeals to American mainstream culture gives Chicanas due concern in the end.
