This is a translation report on Steven Kotler's Tomorrowland-Our Journey from Science Fiction to Science Fact. The book consists of 3 parts, 16 chapters and nearly 80000 words. The whole translation task has been finished by four team members. The translator translates the first chapter of Part Three The Psychedelic Renaissance.The Psychedelic Renaissance mainly tells about the efforts and research results of many researchers in exploring the psychedelic's therapeutic potential in curing some intractable diseases, such as death anxiety, cluster headaches, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, alcohol abuse and other unremitting diseases. The author also tells a story of a colon cancer patients undergoing psychedelic treatment, which enables readers to understand the psychedelic and psychedelic therapy in a simple way.The translator writes the report analyzing the process and difficulties during this translation practice. The report involves four parts: translation task description, translation process, case analysis and conclusion. Chapter 1 introduces the project background, objectives and significance. Chapter 2 is the description of the translation process. Firstly, a brief introduction is given about the author, the text, and the theoretical support, etc. Then the author finishes the first draft. At last, the draft is finalized after several revisions. During the process, the translator selects Hans Vermeer's Skopos Theory and three basic principles as the guidance of translation. Chapter 3 is case analysis. The translator analyses the difficulties in the process of translation, and summarizes the theoretical methods to solve the difficulties. Chapter 4 is the summary of the translation. The author realizes the importance of the translation theory. In addition, the author should correctly use various resources to get an accurate translation. Finally, the translator is also deeply aware of her own shortcomings, which need to be overcome in the future study.
