The Differences And Similarities Between Compliment In Chinese And Vietnamese

Compliment in the daily life is a language act to express the politeness in communication. Nowadays, there has been some studies on compliment in Chinese. However, there has been not so many about the differences between Vietnamese and Chinese's compliments. This essay is based on the result of study from former generations and analysing and investigating methods to point out the difference and similarities between compliments in Chinese and Vietnamese.The main content of this essay includes three chapters as follows:Chapter one: Comparing the purpose of using the compliments in Chinese and Vietnamese. The main purpose of this chapter is to clanify the purpose of using compliments in two languages and provide the similarities and differences between them.Chapter second: Comparing the performance of compliment in Chinese and Vietnamese. The main content of this chapter is to compare the way how to perform compliments in two language. Firstly, the comparision of direct compliments in Chinese and Vietnamese. Secondly, the comparision of indirect compliments in those ones. Finally, that is the summary of differences and similarities way how to express them in two language.Chapter third: Comparing the respond of compliments between Chinese and Vietnamese. The major content in this chapter is to show out the difference and similarities in responding the compliment in both Vietnamese and Chinese.
