Design And Study Of Modern Ceramic Tea Set Based On The Cultural Background Of The Tang Dynasty

The history of Chinese tea culture has lasted thousands of years. Drinking tea, which is not only a way of life but also an enjoyment of spirit, is still an indispensable part of people's daily life today. In the meanwhile people drink tea, they also enjoy appreciating the tea set.The Tang dynasty with inclusive and splendid culture, under which the ceramic tea set became popular, was the golden age of Chinese history. Today, Chinese traditional culture has been impacted by the western culture, which results in that the design of modern ceramic tea set based on Chinese traditional culture not only facilitates to satisfy our demand for tea culture in the modern society, but also helps to broaden the ideas of designing contemporary ceramic tea set and deepens the cultural meaning of the design.The thesis does a survey on the cultural heritage of the Tang Dynasty, studies the Tang Dynasty, specially the Tang dynasty ceramic tea set, and refines the most representative of Chinese traditional cultural elements. For the design and study of modern ceramic tea set, a perfect procedure of the design is constructed and every stage of the procedure is described in detail. The analysis of the design of modern ceramic tea set is done from the four following basic elements. They are functional effect, formal beauty, materials, and detailed design. We choose some classic examples to describe the design and then achieve the result. The thesis studies and innovates on the production process of modern ceramic tea set, and the detailed design rule is obtained. By utilising the above results, the design goes smoothly with a reasonable design of the tea set.Combined with the above design, the preliminary conception of the design is proposed and the draft is drawn. The proposal is evaluated by using fuzzy evaluation method and then we get the final design proposal, based on which, it uses 3da Max to construct the product model, renders the model using VRay Render, and presents the design effect of the product.The thesis creatively applies 3D printing to the ceramic design. In making the sample of the ceramic tea set, we use 3D printing instead of handwork, which results in reducing the time for making the moulds and improves the production efficiency.This design is rooted in Chinese traditional culture and craft, and also well combined with the contemporary aesthetic and living style. The thesis studies the methods for designing ceramic product. Our design reaches the ideal effect with a beautiful model, meets the contemporary aesthetic and also has a useful function. It can easily apply to the way of using the tea set for the modern, which can be viewed as a beneficial discovery for the design of the modern ceramic tea set.
