At present, the research on special topics in the academic field is focused on the technique of expression and image editing. To highlight the social value of the subject matter of photography is few and few. Although some periodical papers have put forward some opinions on the value of photography, it is short of pertinence. This paper is to highlight the theme of social value based on the discussion.Firstly, this paper discusses the production and development of special photography from the point of view of the development of special photography. The definition and characteristics of special photography are classified and summarized through some works on the understanding of thematic photography. Describes the characteristics of the three categories of the same points and different points. Secondly, the core content, the theme of social value from emotional information transfer, the spirit of fashion propaganda, warning education guidance and the preservation of historical literature four aspects, through the support of a large number of examples, reflecting the embodiment of social value in the material. Finally, the theme of how to highlight the social value of a few thoughts.
