The Study On Emperors Of The Legend Of Han Dynasty In Ming And Qing Dynasty

The series of the legend of Han Dynasty is one of important parts of historical novels. It is consist of The Legend of Han Dynasty written by Xiong Zhonggu and Yu Shaoyu, The Legend of the Beginning and Resurgence of Han Dynasty corrected by Huang Huayu, The Legend of Han Dynasty published by Yuan Su, The Legend of Twelve Empires of the Eastern Han Dynasty written by Xie Zhao, The legend of Western Han Dynasty written by Zhen Wei and The Legend of Eastern Han Dynasty written by Qing yuan Taoist Priest. This thesis is aimed at analyzing those emperors and discussing its characters.The first chapter classify those emperors by their performance in novels so as to analyze emperors’symbols and artistic characters respectively. Wise emperors is symbol of special appearance and assisted by Gods, urgent need of talents and be kind to them, generous spirit and supported by the people. Artistic characters include foils,positive and negative description. Incompetent emperors is symbol of disasters happening, traitor ministers being appointed, incapable of taking strong decision. Artistic characters pay attention to narration, discussion is also the way to describe figures. Besides,negative description is also its artistic character.The second chapter mainly discuss the novels’development of emperors and analyze the figures development of Liu Bang and Liu Xiu. Generally speaking, this chapter concentrate on how figure of Liu Bang changing from abstract to abundance and how the figure of Liu Xiu changing from romance to reality.The third chapter mainly compare the legend of Han Dynasty to historical records so that we can analyze its similarities and differences. The comparison of emperor images concentrates on novels authors’attitude towards historical records and the different judgments on emperors. The comparison of artistic characters concentrates on narrative methods and psychological description.The forth chapter is the comparison between The legend of Han Dynasty and The Legend of Sui and Tang Dynasty. It mainly discusses on the topic of emperors’image, artistic characters and artistic values. The emperors’image analyze emperors’personal association and typical scenes of life, round figure and plate figure. The artistic characters discuses circumstance settings and the quotation of poems and passages. The artistic values pay attention to the effect of emperors in theme and narration.
