In the creation of art,’the medium conversion of arts’as a common phenomenon has existed for a long time. Along with the development of digital technology, the visualization of culture, the survival crisis of traditional arts, and the innovation demand of arts itself, the medium conversion of arts are going to be more diversity. From 1980s, the trend of medium conversion of various arts are visualization in China. The conversion between literature and film is the most outstanding trend. The author aims to discuss about the medium conversion of new period’literature-film’, to figure out the similarity among the other kind of medium conversions, and to provide means and viewpoints for study on the relationship between different arts.The study is comprised of five parts.The introduction defines the’medium conversion’and explains the root cause of studying’medium conversion of arts’in terms of’medium conversion relationship between literature and film’. The second part sorts out the characteristics of’literature-film’adaption from 1980s. In 1980s, the classic masterwork was mainly adapted by film and the literature affected film. In 1990s, the film-oriented adaption was based on the new generation of best-selling authors’works. Meanwhile, the directors added their own style to the adaption and focused on visual effect. From the 21st century, the performance of traditional literature depends heavier on film and television, film leads film, the IP film and television productions occur. In the third part, the author discusses stories about how the’literature-film’performs similar in different medium. In addition, the author introduces new conversion relationship in ’verbal-images’ relation-conversion and re-creation from verbal to images, and new’literature-film’adaption model-IP development. In the fourth part, the author analyses the effects of crossover conversion of ’literature-film’.Furthermore, the author analyses the internal development track of crossover conversion of’literature-film’. Due to the hasty development of film and television, the debate on the’verbal-images’relation is raised. The author concludes the far-reaching effects of medium conversion between film and television communication and literature communication. The final part is a summary of the paper.
