Clamor And Loneliness—On The Urban Image In Printmaking Creation

Currently, urban development is changing people's life rapidly. When enjoying the benefits and convenience from urban development, people are encountering much unexpected confusion and trouble as well. Not only our living environment has been changed, but also people's values and lifestyles. The rush of urban life has brought people great pressure, high cost of living and blind pursuit of luxury, which lead them to be unhappy, negative and finally indifferent and isolated. Gradually, people can hardly get rid of such kind of life. This is the reason that urban development provides modern artists with perception and thinking. As a result, they have possessed new features and spiritual connotation. The development of print has been influenced by urban development in terms of technology and theme. Many excellent print works reflect the urban image, analyze human nature or rethink the impact of urbanization on people's life from different angles. In this paper, in order to explore the creative ideas and painting methods, a number of representative printmakers devoted to urban theme and their works are discussed. Also,the author's graduation work is used as an example to discuss the expression of clamor and loneliness in the printmaking creation of urban theme.
