Folk Writing In Fan Xiaoqing's Novels

Fan Xiaoqing has been keen to write the Folk Customs in the daily life of Soochow.Her novels are filled with a strong regional culture color of Soochow, hence, her novels contain dense culture deposits and aesthetic implications. In this paper, I will combine the relative theories of the Literature, Folklore and Aesthetic to investigate in-depth the aesthetic function, cultural space-time construction and literary history significance in the Fan Xiaoqing's novels, from the view of folk writing.The First Chapter expounds the aesthetic function of the folk writing in Fan Xiaoqing's novels. The role of specific folk custom items in text construction is analyzed.The complicated relationships between the folk custom space, the ideology and the era transformation are explored, through the changes of the layout and evolution of the functions in folk custom space.The Second Chapter studies the culture time-space construction of folk writing in Fan Xiaoqing's novels. The small town in Soochow leads to a modern city on one side and connects to traditional vernacular on another side. Through the typical geo-location,“often” and “change” the characteristics of duality culture of the small town is explored;through the diversity of folk culture between the small town and a country, urban-rural gradability is analyzed.The Third Chapter studies the literary historical significance of folk writing to Fan Xiaoqing's novels. In this chapter, I mainly combines the “Root-searching literature”,“new realism novel” and part of novels from the 70 s writers and 80 s writers to draw a conclusion by the method of comparison and analysis. The writings of folk life and folk culture in Fan Xiaoqing's novels avoid the main drawbacks of the “Root-searching literature”, “new realism novel”and so on. Her novels not only adhere to the theme of cultural seeking-roots, and write daily life from the view of cultural aesthetic, thushighlight its significance in literary history.
