Being a fine opera created by artists in the Strait,the Peony Pavilion(youth version)is hosted and produced by a famous writer Bai Xianyong.Since premiere in2004,it has been praised continuously,and set off a adaptation wave of traditional opera "youth".As an adaptation of a Kunqu opera work,the play integrates new thinking and aesthetic pursuit of directors and senior team on the basis of fully retaining classical aesthetic charm of Kunqu opera "Peony Pavilion".Taking Peony Pavilion(youth version)as the research object,aesthetic connotation is analyzed from three aspects: theme deduction of real sentiments,ultimate beauty of emotional interpretation and neutralization of the aesthetic effects.In the context of national cultural Renaissance,it probes into contemporary significance of its modern adaptation,as well as contribution to inherit and carry forward the spirit of the Chinese aesthetics.Besides introduction and conclusion,the paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter mainly studies the theme deduction of real sentiments in youth edition of "Peony Pavilion".It focus on combing the layout of youth edition "Peony Pavilion" with the mainline of real sentiments.Combining with the plot,it explores the beauty of life highlighted in the youth edition "Peony Pavilion".The second chapter studies the emotional expression of ultimate beauty in youth edition "Peony Pavilion".Taking the principles of artistic creation and contemporary aesthetic psychology as the entry point,it is combined with the specific drama productions.Through the comprehensive analysis of actors,music integration,stage design and so on,it analyzes “the beauty of dream","the beauty of freehand brushwork" and "the beauty of elegance" after flexible use of modern technique of expression.The third chapter explores the aesthetic style of neutralization in youth edition"Peony Pavilion".Through study in opera features of "happy ending","moderately gag","implicit love description" and "civil-military play",it analyzes traditional aesthetic taste of neutralization in "harmony and perfect fusion","appealing to both cultured and popular tastes” and " alternate kindness with severity ".Through the above analysis and research,the fourth chapter explores the modern value and significance of the youth edition "Peony Pavilion" targeting the cultural context of dailizati on of aesthetic,vulgarization and mediocrity,making clear its contribution to the inheritance and promotion of the Chinese aesthetics spirit as well as the enlightenment brought by the adaptation of modernization of traditional opera.On the basis of maintaining "elegant" appeal of classical Kunqu art,“Peony Pavilion”(youth version)fully infuses into the contemporary characteristics,breaks through the mindset of "too elegant" or "too vulgar" opera adaptation,perfectly integrates tradition and modern aesthetic consciousness of the classical aesthetic,adding the modern elements for ancient art and culture.At the same time,the success of the youth edition of " Peony Pavilion " also provides new thought for the future development of Chinese traditional opera and the combination among traditional opera,modern technology and the time spirit.
