Erich·Fromm is an important member of the Frankfurt School in the 1920 s.His outstanding theoretical contribution is that he combines Freud’s theory of psychoanalysis and Marxist philosophy,Then create his theory of "escape from freedom".When he focuses on the survival situation of modern people,he reveals the imperfect of the capitalist social structure and takes the modern character structure as the starting point,and makes a profound analysis of the phenomenon of "escape from freedom" which is prevalent in modern times.He draws on the psychoanalysis method founded by Freud,excavates the real psychological roots of modern people to escape from freedom.Fromm’s thought of "escape from freedom" could not only help to find a way to solve the dilemma of survival,but also has great significance on explorating of the path of positive freedom,constructing the construction of rational beliefs and imagining the idea of a sound society.Based on the results of previous studies,this paper combs the main content of Fromm’s escape from free thought and its argument in the context of Fromm’s academic system.From Fromm’s elaboration of ideal personality,rational belief and sound society,to explore the enlightenment of solving the dilemma of survival.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part explains the social background and theoretical origin of Fromm’s thought of “escape from the freedom”,The second part mainly explains the main content of Fromm’s thought of “escape from the freedom” and the reason why the modern man escapes freedom,The third part analyzes the inspiration that Fromm’s thought of “escape from freedom” in revealing the plight of modern people,depicting ideal character,elaborating rational belief and building healthy society,and finally doing a brief assessment of the shortcomings of Fromm’s thought and theory.
