| The Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire(SDQ)is a brief behavioral screening questionnaire for children and adolescents aged 2 through 17 years old.SDQ is one of the most frequently used measures of mental health and,as of September 2016,there are more than 4000 SDQ-related published articles from over100 countries. Many psychometric properties analysis showed that SDQ achieved excellent reliability and validity(R.Goodman,1997;R.Goodman et al.,1998;R.Goodman,Renfrew,& Mullick,2000).When it used in China, reliability of conduct dimension and peer dimension were unstable, some appeared high and some appeared low. That means conduct dimension and peer dimension of SDQ didn’t have consistent results. The present research tries to provide further evidence for this debate and examines the moderate effects of sample and research characteristics by reliability generalization meta-analysis.46 empirical researches were identified from 11640 SDQ-related articles. The results showed that: In the random effect model, weighted mean of internal consistency reliability,test-retest reliability and split-half reliability were around 0.7.Three types of the reliability in SDQ and its dimensions had significant heterogeneity.Conduct dimension(Q=5486.716)showed more heterogeneity then the other dimensions, peer dimension(Q=1641.000)showed less heterogeneity then the other dimensions.Reliability of peer dimension was stable and low.The result of mixed regression analysis indicated that sample characteristics such as the standard deviation of age, sample size, mean of scores, article resources, publication type had predictive functions on the reliability for the whole SDQ;Publication year, article resources had predictive functions on the reliability for conduct dimension;Mean of scores, sampling area had predictive functions on the reliability for peer dimension. In light of this,we highlight several issues in the measurement and make concrete recommendations for using SDQ in China. |
