Since its birth,psychology has been in a state of hundred schools of thought,so does the Bayesian reasoning.Surrounding the real reason of the natural frequency facilitation,Scholars have put out many different and distinctive viewpoints.At present,Nested Sets Theory,which challenged the Evolutionary Theory too,has been supported by many scholars,and even formed the competitive situation between these two theories.Therefore,it is necessary to make further discussion on the difference between Evolutionary Theory and Nested Sets Theory in the natural frequency facilitation.Specifically,on the basis of the comparison between Evolutionary Theory and Nested Sets Theory,this study tried to divide Bayesian reasoning task into two parts: the stem and the questioning method,and compare the difference between the Evolutionary Theory and Nested Sets Theory by changing the way of raising questions.Based on these points,two experiments were designed in the present study.Firstly,the difference between the Evolutionary Theory and Nested Sets Theory was expored by using the method of the natural frequency question and the standard probability question(experiment 1).Then,difference between Evolutionary Theory and Nested Sets Theory by using fuzzy question method was discussed(experiment 2).The first experiment is the accurate reasoning process with sufficient time,and the experiment two is a fuzzy reasoning process with shorter time.Experiment 1 is the competely between-groups design,The three factors are questioning nested sets relations,stems and questioning method.Experiment 2 is the competely between-groups design,The two factors are questioning nested sets relations and stems,the natural frequency stem.All the questioning method in the Experiment 2 are fuzzy.Experiment results show that:(1)The natural frequency facilitation arise from two parts: the stem and the Questioning,and the question method of natural frequency plays an important role in Natural Frequency Facilitation?(2)Nested Sets Theory would be more applicable to play a role in the estimation of fuzzy intuition task,and it also important in helping the participants to understand Bayesian rules,but it seems to be limited.(3)The Nested Sets Theory not completely explain the Natural Frequency Facilitation,so Evolutionary Theory is better than Nested Sets View in improving Bayesian reasoning performance,our study more inclined to support Evolutionary Theory.
