Ge Fei's three novels came into publication in succession from 2004 to 2011, known as Jiangnan Trilogy including Face and Peach Blossom, My Dream of the Mountain and River and Spring Ends in Jiangnan. Different from pioneer posture in the past, Ge Fei's Jiangnan Trilogy discussed the construction and exploration of utopian concept by the intellectuals in three different historic periods, vividly exhibiting the novel characters'inner changes in pursuit of "Peach Garden World". The author wrote about intellectuals'pursuit, practice and surrender to the utopian "Peach Garden World", which happened to reveal the significance of Utopia for the present era. In terms of artistic expression in Jiangnan Trilogy, Ge Fei continued the pioneer writing with traditional regression to vividly and artistically disclose the mental pilgrimage of revolutionists via image narrative technique. With the natural image reflecting the exquisite brushwork, the author exposed rains and flowers in this closed space, adding a sense of aesthetics and mystery to the "Peach Garden World". Making Ge Fei's Jiangnan Trilogy as the key objective, this paper analyzed the three novels systematically through close reading as well as an in-depth excavation of the characters' changes in beliefs, practice and psychology in different periods in the novel. To seek the feasibility for the Utopia, the paper also illustrated the reasons for the failure to the Utopia of different people in different eras. And it deeply interpreted the transformation and disillusionment in the "Peach Garden World", embodying the contemporary different values of the Jiangnan Trilogy. The main structure of this paper can be divided into three chapters. The first chapter discussed the concept and connotation of the "Peach Garden" and "Utopia" in detail, gradually revealing the construction and uniqueness of the utopian ideal in Jiangnan Trilogy by discussing the characteristics of the "modern world" ideal with western utopian ideal. The second chapter mainly elaborated the image world of Jiangnan Trilogy from two aspects of natural image and social image, with the author's imagery style and narrative skills from another angle to reflect the influence of mental changes of characters on the "Peach Garden World". By building an image world, Ge Fei attempted to show the whole spiritual evolution and tragic fate of revolutionary family, in order to reproduce the era change of Utopia consciousness and reminisce about the past revolutionary faith. With Peace Garden Dream as the starting point, the third chapter discussed the decline and disillusion causes of Peace Garden Dream under different backgrounds as well as an in-depth analysis of Peace Garden ideal for the eternal meaning of all times, as to call for the return of the ideal paradise.
