Recollection and familiarity is two kinds of recognition memory processing process. Previous studies mainly used "remember/know" recognition method for both behavior and neurophysiological mechanism of the research. Most of the findings supported that recollection and familiarity belong to different processing system, and the brain mechanisms are different too. This research mainly use masking priming to explore the difference between recollection and familiarity. The learning stage before the test stage will be, and a brief masking stimulate before the test item may be increase test fluency of the project, and then the rate of recollection or familiarity reaction may be increased. In Experiment 1, we used a more vivid Chinese two-character word as masking priming material. Before the test phase, word of masking stimulus are divided into three conditions (respectively, repetition masking stimulus, conceptual masking stimulus and independent masking stimulus). The result shows that repetition masking stimulus has no effect on recollection and familiarity, but to make the recognition processing more fast; Conceptual masking stimulus promote familiarity, but not recollection. In experiment 2, we choice brief strokes as the stimulus, and also divide them into three groups (respectively, repetition masking stimulus, conceptual masking stimulus and independent masking stimulus). The result shows that both repetition masking stimulus and conceptual masking stimulus can not promote to affect the recollection and familiarity of the picture. Moreover repetition priming can make the recognition processing more fast.In experiment 3, we keep the item of the experimental study and the test in the same, and only change the masking material into two or three words. The test process also can be divided into three groups (respectively, repetition masking stimulus, conceptual masking stimulus and independent masking stimulus). The result shows that repetition masking stimulus has no effect on recollection and familiarity, and to make the recognition processing more fast just under the recollection actions; Conceptual masking stimulus promote familiarity, but not recollection. In the summary, three kinds of experimental masking materials has different effect in recollection and familiarity. Conceptual priming is good for the action of recollection just when the masking stimulus is word.
