Autism spectrum disorders are a broad developmental disorder characterized by social interactions,speech and language barriers,narrow interest and repetitive stereotyping,which have serious adverse effects on the growth of children.Social barriers are the core symptoms of autism spectrum disorders.Social barriers are mainly manifested in the eyes can not be watched,facial expressions,physical posture and other skills to communicate with people,and family is difficult to establish a healthy attachment relationship,peer interaction in the lack of sharing and cooperation,it is difficult to develop a good friendship.Improving the social communication ability of children with autism spectrum disorder is the key and difficult point in the rehabilitation training of autism.Intervene in social barriers to children with autism spectrum disorders,and enhance their social interaction to help children with autism spectrum disorders improve their communication skills,better integrate into society,and relieve family and social stress.This study aims to intervene in the social barriers of children with autism spectrum disorders through horticultural therapy in order to enhance the social interaction ability of the subjects.In this study,two children with autism spectrum disorder were selected by using the method of single study design and case study.The social disorder of case was intervened by horticultural therapy.The interventions include four topics: soils;plant adoption and plant cultivation;plant contact and plant comparisons;natural plant cultivation and plant contact activities.During the intervention,a six-month intervention was conducted on the case,once a week for 24 visits,45 minutes each time.The researchers concluded by observing the results of the data processing analysis and the changes in the subjects before and after the intervention:(1)The use of horticultural therapy in this study is effective in the intervention of social disorder in children with autism spectrum disorder,which can effectively improve the social communication ability of children with autism spectrum disorder,but the effect of different target behavior is different.(2)The effect of horticultural therapy on the children with autism spectrum disorder can be maintained after the withdrawal,but the maintenance effect of different target behavior is different.(3)factors that affect the effect of horticultural therapy have positive and negative factors.Positive factors include the research object to the intervention activities,a variety of teaching methods and parents with the active cooperation.Negative factors include the subject's own limitations,the parent's impedance and the constraints of the environment.
