Amnesia And Self-Identity:The Group Of “Liuzhou Hu(???)” In Tang Dynasty

“Liuzhou Hu(???)”is an sogdian group of people from the East Turkic khanate.When the the East Turkic khanate was end,they followed the Turks people to take refuge in the Tang Dynasty.At the very beginning,they were placed in the city of Liuhuzhou(???),therefore they were called“Liuzhou Hu”by the academic cycle.Having lived in the East Turkic khanate for a long time,“Liuzhou Hu”had typical features of nomadic ethnic,who were different from the sogdian businessmen and musicians from the Central Asian States and the Silk Road.After surrendering to the Tang Dynasty,“Liuzhou Hu"not only remained the traditional characteristics of Turks that they are good at archery and fighting,but they also left a lot of Turkic traces in living habits and cultural identity.In the subsequent historical events,such as the Insurgency of Kang Daibing and “An-shi Catastrophe”,which had profound impact on the northern frontier in the Tang Dynasty,we also can find the traces of "Liuzhou Hu".It is interesting that,although “Liuzhou Hu” submitted themselves to the rule of the Tang Dynasty for many years,they never forgot the memory in Turks.For example,they established a series of Turkic official positions and were friendly to Turks.It can be said that in these events,their "Turkic memory" was obviously performed.After the An-shi Catastrophe,the Tang Dynasty had already eliminated the threat of Turks to some degree.From the beginning of this chaos,“Liuzhou Hu”moved out the area of Liuhuzhou in succession.A part of them followed the remnants of rebellion to live in the HeShuo Fanzhen(????),and the others moved to Hedong(??),combined with Shatuo tribe in Daibei(??).However,the"Liuzhou Hu"still had impact on the historical process of the Tang Dynasty.In Hebei(??),”Liuzhou Hu”became the elite soldiers of Fanzhen(??),in Hedong(??)“Liuzhou Hu”became allies of Shatuo.Owning to Fanzhen and Shatuo tribe,which were the most influential groups in late Tang Dynasty and Five Dynasties,“Liuzhou Hu”entered the historical arena again.During five Dynasties and the early Song Dynasty,Shatuo people's participation in the Central Plains Dynasty's political,cultural and military aspects promoted the localization process of themselves.At the same time,"Liuzhou Hu” also followed the Shatuo people in a new round of national melting pot to get into the ocean of Han(?)nationality.
