Edward Thompson is a British Marxist historian whose "the making of the English working class" has laid his place in the historical school and the culture school,and has elaborated on the important assertion that the British working class can self-emancipate.As Edward Thompson puts in "the making of the English working class",the history of the British people's radicalism by examining the experience of the British people in the eighteenth century British tradition and portraying the experience of the workers in the industrial revolution,and proposing the idea that the British working class can self-emancipate.Edward Thompson takes historical materialism as a starting point,through the study of the role of culture in the formation of the British working class,and thus demonstrates that the British working class can carry out self-liberation.Therefore,Edward Thompson's historical thought summed up,that is,"culture" as the core of historical materialism,that is,historical materialism cultural history.In order to explore this philosophical point of view,this paper combs the context of historical materialism and cultural history,and then discusses the formation process and the main problem domain according to the principle of unity of logic and history,and then analyzes Edward Thompson Based on its "self-liberation of workers can be" the process of demonstration,and finally end with a brief evaluation.
