| The linguistic phenomenon of presupposition was originally studied in the field of philosophy.Gradually,it became the research focus in the field of linguistics.Scholars,at home and abroad,carry out the research from many perspectives.The previous research of psychological cognitive mechanism of pragmatic presupposition is seldom to be found.Therefore,this study aims to analyze pragmatic presupposition in English television interviews from the perspective of cognitive linguistics.This study will be carried out from the perspective of cognitive reference point.It is easier for people to find pragmatic presupposition under the guidance of cognitive reference point.People tend to select the salient entities as cognitive reference point.Pragmatic presupposition is closely related to cognitive reference point.The corpus of this study is from a talk show named CNN Talk Asia.It aims to answer the following three questions:1.From the perspective of cognitive reference point,what are the cognitive functions of pragmatic presupposition in English television interviews?2.From the perspective of cognitive reference point,what are the causes of the formation of pragmatic presupposition in English television interviews?3.From the perspective of cognitive reference point,how does the pragmatic presupposition promote the conversations in English television interviews?Eighteen conversations and four prologues of conversations of CNN Talk Asia are selected in this study with a qualitative method.Ten guests who are representative in different fields are selected.It aims to analyze psychological states of communicative parties(hosts and guests)and audience in details.The finding of this study is that the phenomenon of pragmatic presupposition will be more salient under the guidance of cognitive reference point.It is also beneficial to identify main points of conversations in order to promote turn-takings and make interviews smooth. |
