With the development of economic globalization,exchanges and co-operations among countries are increasing.More and more foreign products are flooding into China,Chinese products can also be found everywhere.As an important part of the company profile,product promotional materials' main purposes are to develop new markets,promote the sales and create profits for the company.Thus high-quality translation of product promotional materials can not only helps to sell the product and achieve cooperation but also establish a good image for the company and enhance its visibility.Therefore how to achieve high-quality translation of product promotional materials is naturally a concern which worth paying attention to.Thus the topic is believed by the author to be both practical and realistic.Under the guidance of Relevance Theory,the product promotional materials of Parametric Technology Corporation translated by the author during practice are selected for case study.The text has the characteristics of technical text,which stresses objective,accurate,logical and concise translation.It also aims at promoting and marketing products,focusing on the practical and motivational features of the translated text.In order to pass the information to readers and achieve the function of the original text,thus under the guidance of Relevance-theoretic accounts on translation,the paper discusses the background,preparation and proofreading of the translation task,and explains the characteristics of the text in detail from the perspective of vocabulary,sentence and discourse.Also through case analysis,the paper illustrates how the author translates under the guidance of Relevance Theory,and summaries some effective translation techniques concluded from the typical examples the author met during practice,so as to help to achieve optimal relevance in later time translation task.
