A Study On The Regional Characteristics Of The Burial Chariot And Harnesses In The Western Zhou Dynasty

In this paper,through the investigation of the burial chariot and harnesses in the capital region and the main vassal state in the Western Zhou Dynasty,the author makes a comprehensive analysis of the burial characteristics in the Western Zhou Dynasty by three angles about species and quantity,placement and diachronic changes.On this basis,according to the burial characteristics of the chariot and harnesses in the capital region and the main vassal state,the Western Zhou Dynasty chariot and harnesses has been divided into the following eight areas: the HeNan area,ShanXi Guanzhong area,ShanXi Baoji area,ShanXi area,the Eastern area,the Northeast area,the Northwest area,the Southern area.From the type,quantity,placement and other aspects of the burial chariot and harnesses,this paper summary the burial characteristics of eight regions,and horizontal comparison of regional differences in the region.The regional differences in the burial of the chariot and harnesses during the Western Zhou Dynasty were mainly reflected in the popular period of the burial chariot and harnesses.He Nan area in the whole Western Zhou Dynasty has been buried chariot and harnesses populariy,and the burial of the type and number of chariot and harnesses has been the first of the major regions.ShanXi Guanzhong area from the early Western Zhou Dynasty in the tombs and chariot and harnesses pit developed to the late Western Zhou Dynasty the most popular atmosphere.And the rest of the region is the early Western Zhou Dynasty popular in the tombs buried in the chariot and harnesses,the development of the late Western Zhou Dynasty in the atmosphere gradually weakened,and some areas did not even find the late Western Zhou Dynasty unearthed.The reasons for the emergence of such regional differences are related to the burial characteristics of the Shang Dynasty,which is manifested in the whole Western Zhou Dynasty.The burial characteristics of the chariot and harnesses are propagated from the center of HeNan area.
