Research On The Shaping Of Villains In Cartoon Works

With the diversified development of cartoon creation,contents of researches on the shaping of villains are not only limited to modeling,language,movements and other external settings,recent years,creators would also pay attention to excavating the complexity and richness of personalities of villains.Villains are not only thought-provoking because of their image settings,but can also facilitate people to get a glimpse of the complexity of human nature through various social phenomena along with the development of the plot.Villains are no longer judged by their beautiful or ugly appearance.Instead,the good or evil roles should be defined by the analysis of the roles' character traits.Broadly speaking,there is no absolutely good person or evil person in this world.The conversion of good and evil depends on the internal nature of villains.Hence,in the cartoon creation process,the setting of villain images becomes more and more important.From the depiction of appearance to the shaping of inner nature,the features of villains become more abundant.This thesis analyzes a large number of excellent cases to research the shaping of villains in cartoon works.By virtue of relevant theories,the definition of villains is concisely illustrated and the features of villains are also classified,including the controversy of extreme selfishness,the contradictoriness of ambiguous good and evil boundary,the tragicalness of evil being rewarded with evil,clumsy and mischievous humor and the subversiveness of black white reverse.By combining the instance to explore the personalized set of animation villain,not difficult to find that for the sake of the twists and turns of plot development,the creator tends to focus on the characterization of the villain character.For example,editing the plot portray characters,expressions reveal the evil of villains;languages and movements reveal villain's desire and greed.Above setting elements have a direct influence on the shaping of villains' character traits.Further on,through case studies,it is concluded that the accurate setting of clothes,accessories,props and auxiliary roles can powerfully reflect the individualized settings of villains and deeply reveal the nature of villains.Compared with excellent cartoon works,it is found that the unconventional light and shade effect adds to the evil of villains;the changing languages intensifies villains' visual infection;special effects presented by individualized skills enhance villains' dynamic impact force;stylized scene design reveal the character traits of villain;diversified background music deeply depict the internal feelings of villains.In this way,through the audio and visual elements,complicated emotions and individualized features of villains are set off by contrast.This paper combines with Chinese cartoon works,this thesis explores into the deficiencies in shaping of villains and further studies how to break through the stereotyped design of villains in domestic cartoons.It is put forward that combining with modern aesthetics,eliminating the stereotyped setting of “judge villains solely by their appearance”,the unitary “all or nothing” setting situation of villains in Chinese cartoons,thus shaping villains with national and era characteristics by referring to Chinese traditional culture.In the performance of the inheritance of cultural spirit,spending more time to create villains' heart and portray more emotion of them,showing the variety and complexity of the villains can make people feel hatred of the evildoers,it also can make people laugh at vile character,furthermore,it can make people estimate the disadvantage in kindness and praise the wonderful quality like goodness,trust,flyness and brave,then it will let the morality have educational significance,deeply express the main theme,enhance the cartoon productions' artistic appeal.
