| Stereotype threat is a kind of risk of individual experience,in which individuals are worried that they will verify the negative stereotype of the group.Stereotype threat can lead to the decline of individual behavior and psychological separation and identification.This study focuses on the gender stereotype in order to explore whether the model can reduce the stereotype threat effect.Experiment 1 was used to examine the stereotype of gender stereotype in the field of language.The results show that when the threat cues are activated,the language proficiency of the threat group is significantly lower than that of the non threatening group.Experiment two was based on the first experiment to further explore whether the model can reduce the stereotype threat effect.The results showed that,after the activation of threat cues,the model group was significantly higher than the model group.Experiment three further explores the role of self-esteem in reducing the stereotype threat effect.The results showed that self-esteem in the example effect on stereotype threat plays a regulatory role,for the high self-esteem,stereotype threat effect exists,but provides an example of information will reduce the threat effect;and for people with low self-esteem,an example does not play a role in stereotype threat. |
