This is a translation report for the first three chapters of American Legal History: A Very Short Introduction, written by American legal professor G.Edward White. It is a non-literature book for average readers. This report recorded the process of my translation work,in which I chose Skopos theory as the guiding theory, and applied various translation methods and techniques. The report introduces and analyses the source text first, then briefly presents the Skopos Theory and tells why I choose it as the guiding theory of the project. Then it was followed by case analysis of some typical example of expressions such as long sentences, expressions with cultural difference and word order difference features, this part of the report focused on how any why I choose certain translation methods and techniques to translate those expressions and summarize the translation process. The goal of this report is to record my translation experience and hopefully provide some references to other’s translation work.
