A Comparative Study On Official Of Wang Dao And Xie An

Wang Dao(276-339 AD).After the establishment of the Eastern Jin Dynasty,Wang Dao was appointed as general,with the same treatment as heads of the three departments,and was conferred Wugang marquis.Later,he got promoted to Shi Zhong,Sikong,Jiajie,departmental official,acted as Zhongshujian and assisted a total of three emperors,emperor Jin Yuandi,Jin Mingdi and Jin Chengdi.After Wang Dao and Si Marui marched from North to South,Wang Dao helped Si Marui get in touch with southern scholars,appeased northern scholars and founded the Eastern Jin Dynasty,forming the political power which was called "The common domination by Wang and Sima".After establishment of the Eastern Jin Dynasty,Wang Dao followed Si Marui unswervingly,carefully crafted the basic state policy of founding a country,and made outstanding contributions to developing regions south of the Yangtze River,easing the contradictions among bachelor families and between bachelor families and the nobility and stabilizing of the ruling of Eastern Jin Dynasty.In a word,Wang Dao played an enormous role in the establishment and maintenance of the Eastern Jin Dynasty.Xie An(320-385 AD)entered the official career in the middle of the Eastern Jin Dynasty,served as Hengwen West Sima and later worked as Prefecture of Wuxing region,Shizhong,head of Ministry of Personnel,Hujun General and other positions.In the middle of the Eastern Jin Dynasty,Xie An stepped in power in the face of great difficulties,crushed the usurper conspiracy led by the Huan's family,set up the North army,defeated Fu Jian of Former Qin,retained ruling of the Jin Dynasty and made it possible for the Eastern Jin Dynasty to continue.Wang's family from Langya and Xie's family from Chen prefecture became bachelor families in the generation of Wang Dao and Xie An,their illustrious families paved the way for their political stratum and their excellent family styles ensured that they had the qualities to serve as officers.Wang Dao and Xie An selected good environment and opportunity for entering official career in accordance with the development of the political situation,and they quickly made a difference,carefully formulated good policies for governance and prevented damages caused by powerful officials to theEastern Jin Dynasty or the development of family forces.In the background of hereditary gentry in the Eastern Jin Dynasty,Wang Dao and Xie An stood out from a large number of ethnic descendants and made a huge contribution to the stability and development of the Eastern Jin regime.This paper carries out a study on Wang Dao and Xie An,two important persons in the period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty,from family background,family style,political conduct and other aspects respectively and explores the similarities and differences between them in the method they started official career and the ruling period.
