On Drama Performance And Imitation Theory

If we explore the Performing Art in dramatic arts,we would find that the essence of performing art is a kind of art of imitation.Like other kinds of arts,it originates from life.If only from the aspect of performing art,it is a kind of "people play people" art.This kind of art has its own historic origination.It is rooted In life,and is the imitation and refinement of life.The performing art has a long history,and many dramatists as well as people related at home and abroad have been exploring and summarizing the theories of drama in different degree.In this way,the performing art is a kind of art which can be traced and has its own characteristics.The first chapter of the thesis is mainly about the imitation in drama performance.The theory of drama is a kind of imitation of life could be traced back a long time ago,especially in the west,the related theories developed most thoroughly in ancient Greek and ancient Rome.The Renaissance of the west also had a profound impact on the development of drama.In the west,there are a lot of drama theorists who are aware of imitation characteristic in drama art.In the field of performing art in modern times,though Stanislavski system,the most influential theory,did not discuss the imitation characteristic in performing art particularly,Stanley himself did not deny the existence of imitation or the value and significance of it.The second chapter discusses on performance and imitation of daily life,and analyzes the deep and complex relationship between them.The basic requirement of performing art for actors is that they have to go deep into life,observe and experience life,and then refine their performing skills.It can be summed up into three aspects.Actors have to go deep into life firstly,then do imitation of life,and then try to get rid of possible imitation traces in the creation of roles.The third chapter explores performing art from the imitation of characters and the characteristic performance.Observation of all kinds of characters in life is the critical basis of observation of life,which is related with characteristics of characters.Characteristic performing is the pursuit of the actors in performing art profession.It requires actors to understand characteristics of roles thoroughly,and then to be incarnated into roles,thus to create true images with distinct characteristics.The thesis focuses on the theme of '"drama performance and imitation".It elaborates the related theories from the three aspects above,and synthesizes some fragmented thoughts on drama performance of predecessors,and does exploration,analysis and summary of its own at the same time,thus forms the organization of this thesis.
