The Effect Of Disease Protection On In-group Derogation In The Context Of Disease Threat

In-group derogation is a kind of disease avoidance response of behavioral immune system,it has the principle of functional flexibility.In this study,two psychological behavior experiments were conducted to explore the effect of disease protection on the reduction of in-group derogation.In Experiment 1,in contrast to the control condition,the in-group derogation has been enhanced in the disease threat condition.Secondly,in the context of disease threat,the in-group derogation produced by the individuals whose hands were sterilized,has been reduced.In the threat of disease,the effect of the in-group derogation can be affected by the disease protection.Experiment 2 was a supplement to experiment1,it examined the role of another disease protective measure(the use of sterile gloves)for in-group derogation.Experiment2 also found that under the condition of disease threat,the in-group derogation has been enhanced,when we gave the subject a disease protection(gloves),the in-group derogation produced by subject has been reduced.In this study,two experiments were conducted to explore the moderating effect ofindividual's disease concerns on the relationship between disease protection and in-group derogation.In the context of disease threat,the degree of individual disease concerns affects the in-group degreciation,and disease protection for individuals with varying degrees of disease is different.The results show that there are two disease protection measures(the uses of hand disinfectant gel and gloves)reduced in-group derogation.At the same time,the individual's own disease concerns(PVD)will also affect the role of disease protection measures.Whatever,this study also gives us a revelation: hand disinfection and the use of sterile gloves is a kind of behavior measures to reduce the negative attitudes within groups,promote harmonious interaction and teamwork.
